Midday Moscato: Must Have Movado

Movado released a limited edition version of their classic watch for breast cancer awareness (yeah, I'm late.). Sweet baby Jesus, I love this watch. I even tweeted Kerry Washington about how fly the watch is (since she is a spokesperson for Movado) and I so don't tweet celebrities. (No, she didn't respond. Boo hiss.)
The FAB watch is black with a black leather band. With berry crystals that illuminate the signature dot at 12 o'clock, I must have this watch.

The watch is $350-  it is a Movado, people. Movado will donate $50 from every watch purchased to Breast Cancer Research Foundation, up to a maximum donation of $15,000 (if that makes you feel better about the price LOL). I appreciate the philanthropic effort by Movado but I would buy this watch regardless. It is so damn DOPE.

An-tee-way, anyone who knows my QT (husband), make sure you send this post to him ;-)...Besos, P&P.

Midday Moscato: Islay Taylor's "Knuckle Dusters"

You know how every so often you stumble upon something that just takes your breath away? It stops you dead in your tracks because you have never seen anything quite like it?  Well I had that experience today... I was browsing through my Twitter feed and saw a link attached by OPI. I clicked on the link and found the most extraordinary rings that I have seen in a very long time...and no, they are not pearl rings!!

Amazing contemporary art jeweler, Islay (pronounced 'eye-luh' ) Taylor has created the most spectacular combination of art, jewelry and, of all things, nails! These two and three-finger rings, called "Knuckle Dusters," were inspired by Kid Sister's song, "Pro Nails." And yes, those are actual hand painted acrylic nails on the rings. Phenomenal!

Sweet baby Jesus, these are so HOT!

On her blog, Ms. Taylor says, "I use the body as a pedestal to showcase wearable sculptures." I would say that these rings are a definite testament to that. Please visit her website at www.islaytaylor.com to see more of her awe-inspiring pieces.

Oh and here is Kid Sister's video for "Pro Nails," if you haven't seen it.

Midday Moscato: Nothing Really To Do With Pearls or Polish- GIRLS

Yes, I was sucked into watching the Billboard Music Awards. My daughter was excited about seeing a few of the artists so I was recruited to watch with her. The funny thing is that she fell asleep and missed most of the people that she wanted to see (which turned out to be a good thing considering the raunchiness LOL).

Anyway, there has been much commentary about Beyonce and her song "Run The World (Girls)" over the past several days. I think that Beyonce is a phenomenal performer. Do I love the song? No, not really but as all of her songs do, they make you want to dance and move. I'm a bit irritated (understatement) at the fact that she says that "girls" are running the world as opposed to women because the last time I checked- "girls" ain't running nothing...ahhhh but I digress. I really don't want to get into that commentary as I have seen the really ugly comments that have been posted to Essence's websites and others. However, there is one line that I absolutely LOVE in that song. As a mother, this really stood out for me (and is more of an example of why "Girls" don't run the world). She says, "Strong enough to bear your children....then get back to business." HELL YEAH! I felt Beyonce on that!!! Did any of you also catch it?

Anyway, if you missed it, here is her performance from last night (this is the whole tribute from the beginning- please feel free to fast forward). My line is around the 6:30 mark.

Homegirl was straight up Sasha Fierce during that performance. Did you see her eyes????... Besos, P&P.

Midday Moscato: Beyonce Surprises Girls

Giving back and going back is so important to me. Once we achieve success, it is essential for us to reach back for the girls coming up behind us. I have so many plans and ideas for Pearls and Polish to build enduring, positive relationships between young girls and women. After all, who best to teach them than us???

Check out this video of Beyonce surprising a group of girls at a school in New York City. That visit meant so much to them. Honestly, all they really want to know is that we care and by coming to their school, Bey showed that she did.

Their faces and squeals were priceless, weren't they?

But did you see the little Latina girl to the left of Bey? Working it!!! Loved her! Go girl!!!...Besos, P&P.

Midday Moscato: ATL FAB PERLA Tisha DeShields

So I was perusing Facebook and ran across some fabulous photos of Ms. Tisha DeShields wearing some beautiful pearls. If you don't know her, she is a phenomenal woman, mother and entrepreneur. She is the Founder and Creator of an awesome company called Original Belly Works which sells belly casting kits for expectant mothers. Isn't that a phenomenal product? Original Belly Work kits can be ordered to create a lifelike mold of an expectant mom's chest and belly. And you can decorate it with flowers, paint it, whatever, to create a work of art that can last a lifetime. Please go to her website for more information- www.originalbellyworks.com.

Ok but back to the FAB PERLA Tisha, check out these pics of this smart, beautiful and powerful woman rocking her pearls:

Doesn't she look gorgeous?! Check out the multi-strand pearl necklace and double strands on her wrist. Perfect!

My fav pic! Work it!...Love the drop pearl earrings!

Beautiful!

I love, love, love the large stud with the multistrand!

Just wanted to feature a FAB PERLA doing phenomenal things while wearing her pearls. Get it, Tisha!...Besos, P&P.

Midday Moscato

So I felt we needed some "Midday Moscato" after my last post. So why not post some fab jewelry!!! Check out this necklace from one of P&P's newest twitter followers, @pearlsofjoycom. I love this necklace. I wanted to show something different- so let's start with BLACK pearls. To die for, OMG! I must add some black pearls to my collection. In case you were wondering (as I was, ummmmm how are they black?), black pearls are produced by black-lipped oysters in the South seas. In this case, they are Tahitian pearls. This is the "Baroque Tahitian Pearl Tin Cup Necklace." Long name, huh? But fab nonetheless. I like this necklace because its different from the normal pearl after pearl after pearl that we are used to seeing. The dainty link cable chain is a well-needed diversion from the traditional style. With this necklace, it almost looks like the pearls are hanging on their own around your neck. I love the simplicity of it....Besos, P&P.

Midday Moscato: Something For My Sorors

From time to time, I may have a post that I title "Midday Moscato." No, its not literally about the oh so refreshingly sweet wine that many enjoy as an afterwork libation (every day is a celebration, right?). It is merely a metaphor for a little relaxation in the middle of the day- a fabulous diversion. These posts are a midday "pick-me-up." It may be about a beautiful pearl piece that I stumbled across, some fab shade of polish that I picked up or even a fabulous young woman that I want to recognize. Just some middday fun....

So here's the first Midday Moscato- Are you looking for that just perfect shade of pink for your fingers? And the prettiest shade of green for your spring toes? With warm weather and loads of sunshine approaching, many are looking for new shades to break the monotony of the same old polish colors. Well, I have found the perfect pink and green combination for spring:

Pink- Two-Hour Lunch by Orly. I love the name of this polish. Don't we all want to take those?

Green- Tree Hugger by China Glaze. So I was a bit surprised by the name because it soooo does not remind me of a tree...much more like an apple (wink). Anyway, check out the pic below. And don't forget, if you go to Sally's and buy both of these, you can get another one FREE. Yay FREE!...Besos, P&P.
